What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Academy Scouting position at Nashville Soccer Club?
REPORTS TO: Academy Director & Technical Director
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Academy Scout will oversee NSC’s Academy player identification network and process. The Academy scout will work directly with the NSC Academy market scouts to identify potential players for the NSC Academy and will be responsible for providing daily progress updates to the Academy Director. The role will collaborate extensively with other academy scouts, coaches, and staff to support the overall needs of the NSC Academy. The ideal candidate will have a passion for youth soccer, be able to identify youth players suited for an MLS Academy environment and have excellent communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Examining and monitoring players based on the Talent ID philosophy and guidelines
- Collaboration with the first-team scouting department on player profiles
- Help manage NSC Academy Futures Program
- Identify potential players for NSC Academy
- Oversee and manage Talent Identification Clinics
- Build relationships with local youth clubs
- Develop a scouting network within local youth soccer community
- Collaborate with NSC market scouts across the state and country
- With oversight from the Academy Director, manage the scouting process for NSC Academy targets
- Manage all aspects of the on-site player recruitment process
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with a youth soccer club in the U.S. market preferred
- Complete proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility in work schedule
- Must have excellent interpersonal written/verbal communication skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to change simultaneously
- Familiarity and experience with soccer operations, as well as training logistics
- Intimate knowledge of MLS, MLS Next, ECNL, and other youth soccer leagues
