Job Description
Nassau Candy is a premier importer, manufacturer and distributor of specialty confections, fine foods, and promotional products.
We are currently hiring an on-site Quality Control Technician who will be responsible for day-to-day technical activities of the Quality Control Department, reporting to the Food Safety and Compliance Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Inbound Vendor COA management, supplier follow up, ensuring all inbound COA are reviewed and compared to the product specs and include necessary testing per the FDA and Ingredient Hazard Analysis.
- Outbound COA’s / COC’s
- Customer COI’s
- Lab Samples & Transmittals
- Glass & Brittle Monthly Inspections – floor / desk
- Monthly Environmental Monitoring Floor / desk
- Annual Potable Water Testing Environmental Monitoring Floor / desk.
- Daily Temperature Monitoring
- Weekly QC Issues LOG
- Review WEEKLY inbound / outbound trailer inspections and breakup records
- Quality Alerts for non-conforming product / suppliers
- Shelf-life studies
- Consumer Complaint Logging and working with Compliance Manager on completing CAPA’s - annual trending per SQF and MRG audit requirements and complaint reduction.
- Support the Food Safety and Compliance manager as needed for all audits: SQF, GMP, Customer and DC/GMP’s, RSPO, FT USA, NON-GMO Project Verified.
- Verify monthly Status of RSPO certified suppliers.
- Store Monthly RSPO Invoices / Receiving DOCS / BOMS / Sales.
- Manage the completion of dept. forms, meeting customer supplied deadlines, using necessary internal resources for completion as needed.
- Storage and organization of the scanned production documents until the FoodReady ERP is fully operational.
- Participate in mock recall programs.
- Dept. Purchases / Invoices / Receipts
- Assist with R&D as needed. Portal work as needed.
Special Projects:
- Department Purchases / Invoices / CC Receipts
- Assist VP in all Social Audits, Sedex, Inscpecterio, Wordly
- Fully Support the FoodReady ERP System.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 - 4 years of Regulatory / QA experience in a food manufacturing or distribution environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Superior proofreading, organizational, time management and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of food product development and processes, food safety and allergens.
