The Lawyer Assistance Program (LAP) of the Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA) provides professional counseling and peer support to lawyers, judges, law students and their immediate family members struggling with mental health, addiction, stress, and related problems. LAP conducts outreach and offers educational programs to NCBA members, law schools, law firms, and legal departments.
Overview of Position
Under the supervision of the LAP Director, the Program Assistant/Case Manager will support the Director and the Lawyer Assistance Committee (LAC) in coordinating the administrative duties and activities of LAP. The Program Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, administrative, data entry, outreach and marketing, and event coordination.
Administrative Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls and direct callers to appropriate individual or resource
- Maintain confidential and administrative files, clients’ resources, client lists, reports, and program statistics
- Maintain organizational and professional referral lists
- Monitor grant applications and track renewal deadlines and progress report due dates
- Lead outreach and marketing to law firms, courts, law schools and legal departments to promote attorney well-being, prevention, and early intervention; correspond with law firms to schedule workshops
- Promote LAP via e-newsletters, articles and ads in Nassau Lawyer, brochures, exhibit tables, social media, and LAP website
- Work with LAC Committee to determine topics of interest for CLEs and Committee meetings, recruit panel members, and compile materials for course approval
- Donor outreach, marketing, and event planning. Maintain active donor information. Reserve meeting rooms and handle event registrations
Qualifications
- Minimum of two-year college degree or working toward higher degree
- Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, databases, and desktop publishing
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently to coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience with social media
- Experience or knowledge of mental health, addiction preferred
- Must demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: Up to $25.00 per hour
