HOME HEALTH, TRAINING & CAREGIVER SERVICES ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
The Home Health Training & Caregiver Services (HTCS) Assistant (HTCSA) assists the HTCS Director with all activities of the HTCS department. This Assistant is a high-energy team player with a positive attitude, excellent computer skills and strong interpersonal skills to interact with all types of people including seniors, persons with physical and or cognitive deficits, caregivers, home health aides, volunteers, the bereaved, community partners, vendors and the public.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs administrative duties including but not limited to keeping records, schedules, calendars, payroll, billing, data entry, calculating mileage and creating reports using various software and excel spreadsheets, using/creating PowerPoint presentations, working with Outlook Calendar, email distribution lists, mailing lists, event planning timelines, and similar. The HTCSA must be able to use Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications.
Assists with events including but not limited to planning, execution and follow up. Attends outreach and community events as directed. Interacts with caregivers, aides, volunteers, partners, vendors and the public to facilitate HTCS activities and offerings.
Assists in preparing training, promotional and group materials including videos PowerPoints, workbooks and handouts.
Promotes the Home Health Training and Caregiver Services offered by NCCOA, responding to phone and in person inquiries, giving tours, assisting with information packets, newsletter and e-newsletter communications, etc.
Screens and processes home health aide applicants, assisting with testing, orientation, training.
Assists in the Adult Day HealthCare Club as directed by the HTCS Director.
Provides services to all types of people with the utmost courtesy, kindness, respect, caring and compassion at all times. Takes time to listen, be supportive and make each person feel valued.
Complies with all NCCOA policies and procedures in all areas including but not limited to cleanliness and hygiene, behavior and conduct, attendance and illness, training and housekeeping.
Complies with all regulations in current Employee Handbook.
Maintains a current knowledge of the NCCOA Emergency Management Plan, their role in it, procedures and participates in all Fire Drills in compliance with all regulations. Maintains current knowledge of Silver Alert procedures. Maintains current annual CPR training, annual TB testing, and necessary training including but not limited to HIPAA, Elder Abuse, APS, LGBTQ, Food Safety, Dementia & Alzheimer’s Disease, as directed by the HTCS Director and forwards original certificates to Human Resources and copies to the HTCS Director.
Performs other duties as directed by the HTCS Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have a working knowledge of the community care system. Must be knowledgeable about the array of community-based services and resources available to address the needs of seniors, caregivers and the bereaved.
Must have knowledge of obstacles facing the aging and vulnerable population including Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Excellent writing skills.
Excellent Microsoft office skills (word, excel, power point, etc.).
Excellent AV equipment skills
Professionalism.
SUPERVISION:
Performs duties under the supervision of the HTCS Director. This position does not have any direct supervisory duties.
WORK EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years’ experience working with the elderly or other vulnerable population in a customer-focused environment, with training in dementia preferred.
Must be able to pass the Level 2 background check required by the Department of Elder Affairs.
Must have a negative TB test no older than 1 year and then annually.
Must adhere to Drug-Free, Smoke-Free, Vape-Free and Alcohol-Free Workplace standards.
Must have reliable transportation to and from workplace.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma, some college preferred, in addition to mandatory CPR training, First Aid training and Alzheimer’s Disease training preferred.
PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS:
Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering and using the telephone.
Able to lift 30 pounds.
