With a strong commitment to raising the bar for healthcare in our community, Nassau University Medical Center is a Level I Trauma Center and a 530-bed teaching hospital.We currently have exceptional full-time opportunities for a Health Services Administrative Assistant to assist in developing objectives and policies for major Nassau Health Care Corporation programs.
Specifically, you will:
- Liaison activities between various NHCC officials, administrators, and department heads.
- Assist in the development of intra-department policies for major programs such as Quality Assurance and Utilization Review
- Confers with staff regarding problem determination and policy implementation
- Participates in the development of preliminary departmental budgets.
- Assist in the development of program management objectives
- Monitor hospital activities to ensure compliance with defined standards
- Attend meetings and conferences.
We require:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of health services management or administration.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnoses, treatments and procedures.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations affecting patient care and related programs.
- Ability to assist in developing program policy
- Ability to assist in the development of preliminary department budgets
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Master’s degree in Hospital Administration, Health Services Administration, Nursing Administration, Public Health Administration, Community Health Administration, or closely related field from a regionally accredited or NYS-registered college or university
OR
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited NYS registered college/university
- One year of satisfactory experience assisting in the development, interpretation, evaluation, or coordination of plans, policies, procedures, systems, finances or operations in a healthcare environment including acute or extended care facilities, health maintenance organizations, or healthcare reimbursement organizations
OR
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited NYS College or University
- Two years’ experience as outlined in (2) above
