Job Summary:

This position plays an integral role within the overall clinic. They serve as the point person for the psychiatry department and assist psychiatry with the administration of patient care.

Often, being the first person to be in contact with our clients and it is vital for someone in this role to have the ability to clearly communicate and establish trust with our clients.

Someone in the this role at Natalis must also have a strong attention to details and must maintain confidentiality for our clients.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and order Medication Refills: Process and facilitate medication refill requests from  patients, ensuring timely communication with pharmacies and addressing any issues that arise during the refill process. Coordinate the ordering of medications as directed by healthcare providers, maintaining accurate records and ensuring availability for patient treatment.
  • Process Insurance Prior Authorizations: Handle the submission and tracking of insurance prior authorizations for prescribed treatments and medications, ensuring compliance with insurance policies and expediting patient care.
  • Administer the Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS) assessments to evaluate and monitor patients for signs of tardive dyskinesia and other movement disorders. Accurately document and report AIMS findings to the healthcare team to guide treatment and management decisions.
  • Administer Injections: Perform a variety of injections as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and maintaining patient comfort during the procedure.
  • Conduct Blood Draws: Skillfully collect blood samples for laboratory testing, ensuring proper technique and hygiene to obtain accurate results while providing a positive experience for patients.
  • Answer telephone calls and assist the caller with their needs.
  • Register clients for initial and follow-up appointments.
  • Update client information when necessary.
  • Perform basic patient care activities including taking and charting vital signs in EHR system.
  • Submit medication prior authorizations to appropriate insurance providers.
  • Attend mandatory department meetings.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with patients and family, team members, department and medical center personnel.
  • Provide clerical support to practitioners and other administrative staff.
  • Perform various other administrative and client service duties as requested.

Education and Experience

  • Medical Assistant certification
  • Nursing license
  • Prior Authorization experience preferred
  • Pharmacy technician experience preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • AIMS Assessment experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
