What are the responsibilities and job description for the Air Traffic Services Specialist position at National Business Aviation Association?
The Air Traffic Services (ATS) Specialist advocates for business aviation in the planning and execution of the daily strategic plan of operations for the National Airspace System (NAS), to ensure equity in airspace allocation and participation in traffic management programs. The ATS Specialist supports NBAA member companies as well as specific Air Traffic Services subscribers on issues related to aircraft operations within the NAS. This position is physically located at the FAA ATC System Command Center (ATCSCC) in Warrenton, VA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provides personalized service to NBAA ATS subscribers
- Collaborates every two hours with FAA managers, airline representatives, and FAA specialists on the strategic plan of operations for the NAS and disseminates status updates to subscribers on a regular basis
- Interacts daily with FAA personnel and NBAA ATS Subscribers to provide information, gather information, influence others' decisions, provide input for strategic and tactical decision-making, and negotiate issues for members and subscribers
- Monitors for, and makes regular entries into the shift journal to accurately capture subscriber issues, NAS events, important conversations with FAA personnel, and services provided
- Monitors, interprets and disseminates NAS information to members in a timely manner
- Utilizes FAA and NBAA tools and computer applications to maintain situational awareness of the NAS throughout their shift
- Assists the FAA with No-Radio (NORDO) aircraft information when available
