COMPENSATION : $69,626 - $109,376 per year

Position Summary

The ARS Director oversees and facilitates a comprehensive program for students with documented learning differences and the adults who support those students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Model the characteristics of a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic educator;
  • Promote SHC’s mission, philosophy and Integral Student Outcomes;
  • Coordinate academic accommodation services within the school community, with external professionals, and with families to ensure equitable access to learning;
  • Supervise the ARP staff, including a Learning Specialist and Coordinator;
  • Encourage students to become self-advocates who access support and request reasonable accommodations as necessary;
  • Create Learning Plans for student academic success and communicate them with faculty and families.

This may include summer meetings;

  • Promote healthy self-image of students with learning differences;
  • Monitor academic progress for students in the program;
  • Maintain accurate records for the ARS program;
  • Provide referrals for an educational assessment for students who have not been previously diagnosed but who may have a learning disability or ADHD;
  • In preparation for the upcoming school year, evaluate educational testing and prepare Learning Plans aligning accommodations and best practices during summer;
  • Work with counselors and teachers to address student learning needs
  • Meet annually with students and families to review learning plan;

  • Coordinate with educational therapists, tutors, and other outside support as appropriate;
  • Collaborate in the design and instruction of a Metacognitive and Study Skills class
  • Create and regularly update resources for study skills via Schoology;

  • Maintain an updated list of individuals and agencies that provide educational testing and learning support services;
  • Provide professional learning and support for teachers of the students in the program to understand and implement accommodations;
  • Serve as part of the admissions committee. Participate in reviewing testing materials for applicants to SHC to ensure services offered meet the needs of admitted students
  • Determine accommodations offered for HSPT;

  • Determine accommodations for math placement test;
  • Coordinate summer program for incoming students, which may include teaching a study skills;
  • Serve as SSD Coordinator for CollegeBoard, which may include proctoring or arranging proctors for Saturday school based testing accommodations;
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and proctor extended time final assessments;
  • Work with the Director of Studies on scheduling, student placement and other academic concerns regarding the program's students;
  • Oversee operations and staffing of Academic Resource Center;
  • Manage budget for Academic Resource Program;
  • Facilitate workshops for parents on how to support their students;
  • Serve on the Professional Learning Planning Team which coordinates school-wide professional learning;
  • Serve on Care Team which supports students whose grades or behavior are of concern;
  • Work with the registrar to ensure accurate communication and documentation;
  • Support the school’s co-curricular activities, service learning, and retreat programs;
  • Engage in professional development, especially our four-year New Faculty Professional Development and Support Program, becoming a reflective and growth-minded practitioner who integrates best and next teaching practices rooted in the SHC mission;
  • Actively participate in SHC’s strategic initiatives to strengthen meaningful diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging practices, especially strategies to support equitable learning, culturally responsive teaching, social emotional learning, and universal design for learning;
  • Strengthen the mission of SHC and the charisms of the Daughters of Charity and De La Salle Christian Brothers and Department of Catholic Schools through their formational programs.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • Credential in Special Education;
  • Experience in communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and programmatic oversight.
  • Desired Qualifications

  • Special Education Teaching Credential;
  • Masters Degree;
  • Experience working in high school resource programs;
  • Interest in organizational effectiveness, curriculum development and / or assessment design;
  • Classroom teaching experience;
  • Knowledge of accommodations as it pertains to Special Education;
  • Flexible, detail-oriented and self-motivated work habits.

    Certifications and / or Licensure

    Credential in Special Education

    Education and / or Experience :

    Bachelor’s Degree; Master's Degree preferred (in-progress acceptable)

    Computer Skills :

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft software applications, Google Suite; databases (such as a learning management system) and internet usage.
