About the Job
We are seeking a highly skilled Landscaping Specialist to join our team at the National Cemetery Administration. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing soil for plants, seeding, thinning, transplanting, trimming, pruning, fertilizing, aerating, mulching, spraying, and dusting of grass, ground cover, flowers, shrubs, and trees.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare soil for planting by loosening it with shovels or rakes.
- Seed lawns, gardens, and other areas as needed.
- Thin seedlings to prevent overcrowding.
- Transplant plants from one location to another.
- Trim and prune trees, shrubs, and other plants to maintain their shape and promote healthy growth.
- Fertilize plants to provide essential nutrients.
- Aerate lawns to improve drainage and reduce soil compaction.
- Mulch around plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Spray plants with pesticides or herbicides to control pests and diseases.
- Dust grass and other plants with fungicides to prevent fungal growth.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of experience in landscaping or a related field preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
- Valid state driver's license required.
- Background check and drug test required.
