JOB TITLE: IEP Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: YIT School
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Education
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The IEP Coordinators overall responsibility is to prepare and conduct IEP meetings, maintain student records, and assist in the implementation of Academic Support Specialist supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitates IEP meetings.
- Communicates to local school systems, parents, and outside agencies.
- Conducts trainings for teachers, Academic Support Specialist, and related service providers.
- Amends IEPs as needed.
- Reviews records and ensures compliance with COMAR.
- Works effectively with other staff members in the interdisciplinary setting to address students needs.
- Participates effectively in Interdisciplinary Meetings, staff/teacher meetings, Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee Meetings, Planning Conferences, in-service training programs, faculty meetings.
- Provides guidance and direction to assigned Academic Support Specialist, ensuring that the Academic Support Specialist demonstrates a participating role within the classroom.
- Expands on and adapt current curriculum programs to meet student needs.
- Develops individualized education plans for all assigned students.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- MSDE Certification as a special education teacher preferred.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college.
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This position will require the incumbent to walk, stand, sit, reach, lift up to 25 pounds unassisted and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Agility and quick reflexes are needed in the event of aggressive behaviors exhibited by the clients served.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Mostly indoor environment, but occasional travel outside of the building for meetings, presentations.
- Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers, printers, active students, moderate traffic).
