What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern- Fund Development Assistant position at National Community Renaissance?
Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Fund Development and the direct supervision of the Development Manager, the Fund Development Assistant will provide administrative support to the Fund Development Team in cultivating a sound donor base of internal and external patrons. The Fund Development Assistant will work closely with volunteers, community organizations and Hope through Housing Foundation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as primary support person for the Fund Development Team and department activities
- Maintain current and accurate records in department's donor database and produce lists and reports as necessary.
- Assist with raising funds for annual Hope through Housing Foundation operating expenses through management, existing donor based and implementation of an Annual Giving program
- Coordinate productions and mailing of spring and year-end annual appeal letters
- Help expand donor prospect pool through identification/acquisition
- Work with team to qualify new prospects and work with appropriate staff to identify new annual and major gift prospects
- Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence
- Assist with cultivating new & existing prospects
- Assist with campaign/regional fundraising as assigned
- Assist with annual giving activities, including donor recognition and fundraising event
- Work with fundraising team to create & implement stewardship program for annual, corporate, and foundation donors; work with appropriate staff on recognition for donors
- Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials and other duties as assigned for fund-raising events
- Handle all administrative details associated with the Hope through Housing Foundation Advisory Council (i.e. prepare and distribute notices, agendas, minutes, etc.)
- Ability to follow up on outstanding pledges in appropriate manner
- Supports and performs holiday/special projects and other duties as assigned by Development Team

EXPERIENCE
- The Fund Development Assistant will possess an Associate's or Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience in Non-profit or closely related fields
- Must be skilled at copy-writing and project management
- Must be able to interface well with other departments especially with Hope Through Housing and Project Development
- Proven ability to communicate clearly, effectively and articulate compelling messages (written and verbal).
EDUCATION
- BA degree preferred; but equivalent work experience will be considered.
SKILLLS
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)
- Knowledge of donor databases desirable.
REQUIREMENTS
- Regular and on-time attendance.
- Hours may exceed 40 hours per week.
- Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.
