The Infrastructure Support Engineer will be responsible for managing and administering network connectivity across the enterprise. This includes overseeing software-defined networks, Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN environments. In addition to the system administration skills required for an in-house or hosted environment, and knowledge of skills required to provision, manage, monitor, and decommission cloud services, the Infrastructure Support Engineer role requires additional knowledge and experience around technologies and techniques for automating provision and management of infrastructure in a distributed environment through scripting.
Responsibilities Include:
• Design, implement, and manage network connectivity solutions including software-defined networks, Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN.
• Configure and maintain network devices and services, specifically Cisco Meraki, Cisco routers and switches.
• Work with VMware NSX-T for network virtualization and security.
• Deploy and manage Cato Networks SASE for secure remote access.
• Managing backup solutions and ensuring robust disaster recovery procedures are in place, using tools like Cohesity and Zerto.
• Monitoring and management of network health and traffic using network management software and tools.
• Deploy and manage server environment, including cloud, virtual, and physical servers.
• Collaborate with IT teams to architect and design cloud computing and virtualized solutions.
• Conduct technical troubleshooting to diagnose, resolve, and prevent network issues.
• Participate in the planning and execution of new projects, ensuring robust and scalable network architecture.
• Develop scripts (PowerShell, Python, VBScript, etc.) to automate routine network administration tasks.
• Compose and maintain diagrams and documentation for network configurations, processes, and service records.
• Provide training and support to team members on planned and implemented new technologies and network practices.
• Ensure that systems and solutions are fully compliant with all applicable regulatory and information security policies.
• Actively participate in disaster response and recovery, business continuity, and security incident response planning, exercises and especially in response to real incidents.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related discipline, and a minimum of 8 years in a comparable position; or at least 12 years of experience in such a role.
• Onsite at least two days per week. Additionally, the role demands the ability to report to the office on short notice to respond to emergencies or outages affecting critical applications or services.
• Candidates must be able to provide support and conduct system maintenance beyond the standard business hours when necessary.
• Experience with multi-tier architectures: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, and networking.
• Firm understanding of cloud security best practices.
• Familiarity with deployment techniques (and tools) in a distributed environment.
• Basic monitoring techniques in a dynamic environment.
• Design of self-healing and fault-tolerant services.
• Understanding of stateless and loosely coupled distributed applications.
• Familiarity developing with RESTful API interfaces.
• Basic understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
• Familiarity with messaging and queuing services.
• Infrastructure as Code: design and security, configuration management, integration, deployment, performance monitoring and tuning, automation of infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of one or more high-level programming languages (C#, Java, PHP, Ruby, Python, etc.).
• Hands-on experience in network administration and support with a strong focus on Cisco Meraki, Cisco routers and switches.
• Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization products, VMware NSX-T and network virtualization technologies.
• At least 4 years’ experience with the Microsoft ecosystem including Windows Server, 365, Active Directory, Azure, Entra ID, Purview
• Experience with managing storage systems (SAN) and cloud storage solutions (Azure files, Amazon S3)
• Familiarity with Cato Networks SASE and SD-WAN solutions.
• Experience with Cohesity and Zerto cloud backup/recovery solutions.
• Strong background in systems architecture and design, particularly in a cloud and virtualization environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to perform technical troubleshooting.
• Proficient in scripting to automate tasks and streamline processes.
• Effective communication skills, capable of explaining complex network concepts to non-technical team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, or VMware are preferred.
• Experience in a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud service providers and their integration with enterprise networks.
