Human Resources Generalist- Payroll and Benefits

The HR Generalist- Payroll and Benefits is responsible for assisting with managing and administering employee payroll and benefits programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and supporting employees with payroll and benefits-related inquiries. This position combines technical expertise in assisting with payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee support to contribute to a positive employee experience and overall HR effectiveness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Payroll Administration

  • Assist with the process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time using the designated payroll software.
  • Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including tax filings and reporting.
  • Assist with the maintaining of accurate payroll records, including employee hours, deductions, and direct deposit information.
  • Assist with responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll and troubleshooting any payroll-related concerns.
  • Assist with the filing and upkeep of employee records
  • Serve as the point of contact for employees regarding benefit inquiries and issues in the Payroll Managers' absence
  • Assist with coverage for the Front Office Coordinator
  • Any other assignments as needed.

Benefits Administration

  • Assist with the administration of employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, and wellness initiatives.
  • Assist with the open enrollment processes, ensuring employees have the necessary information to make informed decisions.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating employee benefits records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Serve as the point of contact for employees regarding benefit inquiries and issues in the Benefits Managers absence.
  • Assist with the filing and upkeep of employee records
  • Any other assignments as needed.
  • Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure payroll and benefits compliance with federal and state regulations, including FMLA, ACA, COBRA, and ERISA requirements.
  • Prepare and submit reports, including tax filings, W-2s, 1095-Cs, and other required documents as needed.
  • Assist with regular audits of payroll and benefits processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Any other assignments as needed.
  • Employee Support and Engagement

  • Assist with providing guidance and support to employees regarding payroll, benefits, and related policies.
  • Educate employees on the organization's payroll and benefits offerings.
  • Assist with onboarding new hires and offboarding departing employees, ensuring seamless experience for payroll and benefits transitions.
  • HR Support

  • Assist with other HR functions, such as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance initiatives, as needed.
  • Support the HR team with special projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the employee experience.
  • Qualifications

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Preferred 3 years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration, preferably in an HR Generalist role.
  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., Paycom or similar) and benefits platforms.
  • Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and benefits laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with HRIS systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Work Environment

  • This role is based in an office environment, fulltime Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm
