The National Council on Higher Education Resources (NCHER), a leading organization

dedicated to advancing access to higher education and promoting innovative solutions to student

financing, is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to serve as its next President.


About NCHER

NCHER is the nation’s oldest and largest higher education finance trade association. It represents

state, nonprofit, and private sector organizations that support students and families in achieving

their educational dreams. Through advocacy, collaboration, and innovation, NCHER plays a

pivotal role in shaping the future of higher education financing, and ensuring access to, and

successful completion of, postsecondary education.


Position Summary

The President serves as the chief executive officer of NCHER and is responsible for the overall

leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of the organization. The President

works closely with the Board of Directors, member organizations, and stakeholders to advance

NCHER’s mission and objectives in a rapidly evolving higher education landscape.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: In collaboration with the Board of Directors, develop and

implement a forward-thinking strategic plan that aligns with NCHER’s mission and

addresses the challenges and opportunities in the higher education world.

  • Advocacy and Policy Development: Represent NCHER’s interests at the federal and

state levels, fostering relationships with policymakers, regulators, and other key

stakeholders.

  • Member Engagement: Strengthen relationships with member organizations by

providing value-driven services, resources, and advocacy.

  • Organizational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, including budgeting, staff

leadership, and resource allocation, to ensure the organization’s continuing financial

health and effectiveness.

  • Collaboration and Partnerships: Build and maintain partnerships with industry leaders,

educational institutions, state and federal partners, and other organizations to advance

common goals.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and accomplished leader with the following qualifications:

  • Experience: A proven track record of executive leadership in higher education, finance, public policy, or a related field.
  • Advocacy Skills: Deep understanding of legislative and regulatory processes, with experience advocating for complex issues.
  • Vision and Innovation: Ability to anticipate trends, think creatively, and drive innovative solutions to address the evolving needs of higher education.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Commitment: Passion for advancing access to and successful completion of education, and supporting students and families in achieving their goals.
