REPORTS TO: Executive Director
OVERVIEW:
The National Dental Association (NDA) is a historic organization on the move. This role offers an opportunity to be a driving force for oral health equity, advancing the mission of NDA through strategic and impactful communication initiatives. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Communications Manager will oversee all internal and external communications, ensuring consistency in messaging, brand identity, and stakeholder engagement.
FUNCTION:
This position requires expertise in content creation, media relations, digital marketing, and brand management. The Communications Manager will develop and implement communication strategies to enhance NDA’s visibility, engagement, and impact. This is a hybrid role, requiring three (3) days per week in the office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to promote NDA’s mission and programs.
· Manage all external communications, including releases, blogs, and media outreach.
· Support the Editor of the Flossline, NDA’s signature publication, to publish 3-4 editions per calendar year.
· Oversee social media strategy and content creation across all platforms to enhance engagement and outreach.
· Ensure consistency in NDA’s branding, messaging, and visual identity across all communications.
· Create compelling content for email campaigns, website updates, and marketing materials.
· Support NDA leadership with speechwriting, presentations, and public relations materials.
· Monitor and analyze communication metrics to assess effectiveness and optimize strategies.
· Develop relationships with media outlets and manage press inquiries.
· Coordinate internal communications, ensuring staff and stakeholders are informed and engaged.
· Assist with the promotion and marketing of NDA’s events, initiatives, and advocacy efforts.
· Ensure compliance with NDA policies and industry standards in all communications.
· Assist with additional duties as required to support NDA’s strategic initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Proven experience in communications, public relations, or marketing.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
· Experience in social media management and digital marketing.
· Proficiency in communication tools, email marketing platforms, and content management systems.
· Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
· High attention to detail and ability to maintain brand consistency.
· Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and leadership.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or digital marketing.
· Experience in nonprofit or association communications is a plus.
SALARY:
$65,000 annually.
START DATE: 3/10/25
BENEFITS
1) Vacation and Personal/Sick Leave – the Communications Manager shall be entitled to annual leave as provided by the Association set forth in the “National Dental Association Personnel Manual”.
2) Health, Dental, and Vision, and Life Insurance –The Communications Manager shall be entitled to participate in the group plan provided by the Association.
3) Retirement plan – The Communications Manager is eligible to participate in the Association's established retirement after 2 (two) months of employment. Currently, the organization will match up to 3% of the employee’s contributions.
4) Continuing Professional Education - The Association encourages and shall pay for continuing professional education for the Communications Manager subject to availability of financial resources.
