Job Description : Litigation Docketing Specialist

Location : Los Angeles, CA

Salary : $80-95K

OT Eligible : YES

Work environment : 3 days onsite / 2 days remote

Job Summary :

Candidates must have substantial experience with Compulaw. Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, the Litigation Docket Specialist performs a variety of docket / calendar related and administrative duties for attorneys, paralegals and legal secretaries. This position interacts with colleagues in a team setting and upholds the image of the Firm by maintaining positive contact with attorneys and staff, and observing confidentiality of client matters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Maintain master calendar of all court deadlines.
  • Calendar new events daily.
  • Determine court dates by reviewing relevant documents.
  • Produce calendar reports weekly and as requested to secretaries, paralegals and attorneys.
  • Send monthly calendar reports to upper management.
  • Produce client or case specific calendar reports upon request.
  • Post updates on the Firm’s portal.
  • Respond to calendaring questions from attorney, paralegals, and secretaries.
  • Prepare custom calendars for timekeepers upon request.

Other Duties And Responsibilities :

  • Keep up-to-date with and communicate rule changes to legal personnel.
  • Make recommendations on calendaring procedures & processes.
  • Make recommendations on calendaring software improvements and / or adjustments.
  • Create and maintain resource guides.
  • Troubleshoot software problems with calendar program vendor.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Strong knowledge of CompuLaw Vision.
  • Minimum three years of docketing, relevant legal support, or equivalent experience in a law firm or legal services environment is required.
  • A four-year degree or, a two-year degree plus a paralegal certificate from an ABA qualified program is preferred. Work experience in lieu of degree is also acceptable.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of State and Federal court Rules.
  • Ability to read through Court Orders to determine calendarable dates.
  • Ability to research local rules.
  • Legal citation and legal terminology expertise. Understanding of court rules and protocols and knowledge of calendaring deadlines.
