Duties :
Serves as a Project Manager in the Transportation Division within the Denver Service Center (DSC) for a wide variety of transportation projects. The projects assigned will range from conventional to complex projects.
Responsible for guiding and controlling one or more NPS Federal Lands Transportation Program (FLTP) project from inception through completion. Incumbent uses knowledge partnership agreements to work with NPS Regional Program Managers, Federal Lands Highway (FLH) divisions of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and with other agencies such as the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and State Departments of Transportation (DOTs). Incumbent uses leadership skills to guide projects from formulation and early development through completion utilizing project management controls to ensure completed projects are within quality, budget, and schedule commitments. 35%
Serves as the point of overall technical and administrative responsibility, accountability, and authority for ensuring that the NPS project is completed as negotiated with the FHWA, NPS Park or Regional office, or with other partnering agencies or by A / E contract. On major, highly complex, multi-phased projects, incumbent may be assigned as Assistant PM to a senior manager. 20%
Applies foundational skill and experience in landscape architecture to lead project teams through processes of project formulation, development, and delivery on NPS lands. Assists NPS superintendents and regional program managers in determining project scope, schedules, budget, staffing needs, and appropriate level of quality. 20%
Manage simple-to-complex road planning, design, and construction projects or transportation planning. Design and construction projects, within the NPS, typically characterized by : multi-year phasing, high visibility, multiple functions (design, construction, planning), likelihood of controversy, unusual design / construction components with novel problems requiring unique solutions, significant political interest / oversight with possible jurisdictional disputes, and multi-phase and overlapping schedules. 20%
Conducts project briefings, including regional work sessions and the service-wide Development Advisory Board. Accurately drafts responses to Congressional inquiries and other information requests in a timely manner and in coordination with other team members and the appropriate DSC Branch Chief. 5%

Required Safety Gear : PPE for site visits
Physical requirements : Work is generally performed in an office setting, with occasional field work involving moderate risks of construction operations. Limited travel to project sites may be expected.
