What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Team Coach position at National Fitness Center?
JOB SUMMARY:
From beginners to competitive athletes, you will provide guidance, support, and encouragement to help kids/members develop their swimming techniques and achieve their full potential. Swim Team Coaches conduct swim team practices, building strong confident swimmers through our swim team program. The swim coach will also assist with conducting practices, motivating athletes, and assist with organizing the swimming program. This position is responsible for enforcing pool rules to ensure the safety of the swim team program and its participants.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Ensure the satisfaction and entertainment of members by providing exceptional customer service
- Monitor and implement club pool rules at all times
- Interact positively and professionally with members, guests and other team members
- Conduct swim team practices in a professional manner
- Ensure swim team practices are fun and educational (strive for student progress) for our kids
- Maintain safe and clean facilities for our swim classes by inspecting the pool area before and after class for trash, maintenance issues, cleaning issues, etc. and taking care of the situation immediately
- Maintaining the longevity of our equipment for classes by ensuring that the equipment is used and stored properly
- Opening and maintaining the lines of communication with our swim kids and their parents through informal discussions before and after class, sending post cards, and making phone calls
- Assisting in promoting various programs (esp. kids programming) to parents
- Follow all health and safety requirements
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
- Attend In-Shape team meetings and trainings as required
- Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS – WHO YOU ARE:
- Minimum age requirement of 16 years old
- Current CPR or ability to pass CPR certification within 60 days of hire date
- Water safety and lifeguard training preferred
- Prior swim team experience (coaching and/or participation) preferred
- Prior experience with children, preferably as a leader/teacher in a setting involving programs, activities, etc.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, cooperation, and ability to work well with all parties
- Maintaining focus in a sometimes hectic and evolving environment
- High regard and propensity for safety
- Willing and able to work a flexible shift: evenings, weekends, and holidays

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand up to 8 hours/day and/or sitting for extended period of time. Employees may be exposed to cleaning chemicals or airborne particles and will be required to wear designated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as directed. Employees are frequently required to use hands and fingers for handle or feel; frequent reach, push and pulling with arms and hands; occasional climb and crouch, frequent balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl; and frequent reach and twist, including side-to-side movements. The employee may be required to occasionally lift, carry or move up to 25-50 pounds and may seldom be required to lift, carry or move 26-50 pounds.
