Job Description
This onsite position will play a crucial role in assisting both the Materials Acceptance and Failure Analysis Lab, and the Gas Quality Lab in their daily function. Key focus areas of this position will be to maintain and update testing protocols, develop new testing protocols, perform FTIR analysis, and design components for 3D-printer. Additional areas that this position will be involved include component design for special projects and initiating operational efficiencies.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the portfolio of testing protocols and ensure that they are compliant with applicable codes and ASTMs.
- Develop new testing protocols as required to account for new technologies to approve them for use at National Grid.
- Manage the FTIR equipment and develop a database of elements encountered throughout the normal course of business to identify materials and contaminants that are discovered during failure analysis.
- Design and produce products on the 3-dimensional printer for special projects and to assist lab technicians in completing their tasks.
- Specify materials related to special projects and obtain sources of supply.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in gas engineering and research & development. Experience in pilot testing / field deployment of new technologies is a plus. Knowledge and understanding of regulatory issues affecting the industry is also essential.
