NHC San Francisco is actively recruiting 15 AmeriCorps Members for the 2025-2026 Service Term! NHC members are placed at multiple organizations throughout San Francisco and San Mateo County, where they complete 1700 hours of service over 46 weeks.
For The 2025-2026 Service Term, NHC San Francisco Will Be Partnering With Multiple Of The Following Organizations, Including, But Not Limited To

Major Duties and Responsibilities
NHC AmeriCorps Members may have a variety of responsibilities at their Host Sites which include:
- Developing and delivering community health intervention workshops
- Helping older adults use technology to improve their health
- Connect new and existing patients to Medicated Assisted Treatment providers for people with opioid and prescription drug overuse disorders.
- Distributing fresh produce and providing nutrition education to health center patients
- Outreach and screening of potential participants, supporting on-site preventive and urgent health care, providing connections to primary care.
- Participating in COVID-19 vaccine distribution, case investigation, contact tracing, and client education
- Partake in monthly/semi-monthly training and professional development sessions around public health knowledge and practice skills.
- Collect data and assess quality of services provided to patients/clients to improve services throughout and beyond their service term.
- Participate in professional development committees addressing communications, teambuilding, recruitment, service, and training at NHC.
- Contribute to program-wide communications efforts by writing blogs/creating vlogs and sharing their experiences through NHC social media.
- Volunteer with local organizations to serve the community outside of Host Site responsibilities.

Interested Applicants Must Meet The Following
- Be at least 18 years old at the start of their Service Term.
- Have obtained a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Be a U.S. national or Lawful Permanent Resident.
- Cannot have completed 4 prior AmeriCorps Service Terms.
All NHC AmeriCorps Members Are Matched With a Host Site Supervisor At Their Host Site. In Addition To Their Host Site Supervisor, NHC Members Receive Mentorship From The Following
- Teammates at their Host Site (e.g., Physician Assistants, Dental Assistants, Program Managers and Coordinators, Community Health Workers, etc.).
- National Health Corps Program Staff (e.g., Program Director, Program Coordinator(s), National Program Team, etc.).
Some, but not all, positions may require additional considerations, including, but not limited to:
- Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to bend over or crouch down intermittently and/or repeatedly.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs in boxes or materials.
- Access to a vehicle to move between clinic sites due to limited public transportation - this applies only to the San Mateo County position.
Some, but not all, positions may require some level of fluency in Spanish, Mandarin or Cantonese because of the number patients whose first or only language is a language other than English.
- Positions that require knowledge of a second language will clearly state the level of proficiency required for the role based on language proficiency guidelines at the United States Department of State.
- If you speak either Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese to any capacity, we highly encourage you to consider applying for roles where you can practice and improve your language skills by providing essential health services to communities in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties!
- Members who have held roles where they have exercised their language skills have left highly prepared for their future endeavors, and make for competitive applicants in the public health/social services workforce, government agencies, and post-graduate schools.

- Youth (0-18) at public schools or in clinics.
- Patients living with substance use disorders.
- Patients of all ages living with chronic conditions.
- Older adults (50 ).
