Position Description

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) is currently looking for a Grants Manager. GLSP is a nonprofit law firm that provides legal assistance to persons with low incomes in the 154 Georgia counties outside the metropolitan Atlanta area. The firm has 10 locations across the state. GLSP receives a substantial amount of its funding from the federal Legal Services Corporation (LSC), with the remainder of its funding coming from over 60 various private and public sources.

As a member of the Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) Development Office, the Grants Manager plays an essential role in helping meet the organization’s current and future financial needs. Reporting to the Director of Development and Communications, the Grants Manager will demonstrate excellence in grants management through highly effective communication; balancing both immediate and long-term needs; collaboration with internal stakeholders; and an understanding of the organization’s mission and culture.

The primary areas of responsibility of the Grants Manager include researching, developing, planning, writing and editing funding proposals; managing grants and ensuring grant compliance including calendaring and adhering to deadlines; maintaining accurate records of funding sources; collecting and compiling financial, case and evaluation data; collaborating and coordinating with administrative and programmatic staff; and communicating with staff to gain an understanding of the organization’s current work and emerging opportunities. The Grants Manager also cultivates and maintains good working relationships with grantors, potential grantors and GLSP staff.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of governmental and private grant awards to ensure effective stewardship and accountability
  • Guide development of, implementation of, and adherence to workflow processes, including maintaining a grants submission calendar; notifying staff of deadlines; announcing awards to staff; and management of regular grants meetings to identify upcoming deadlines and future opportunities.
  • Utilize community partnerships, Federal Register, databases, websites, and other tools to identify funding opportunities from federal and state agencies, foundations, corporations, and other philanthropic opportunities.
  • Engage in strategy discussions with Director of Development and Communications and key program leaders to evaluate grant funding priorities and identify and incorporate new program design and goals for strategic growth into grant applications
  • Lead the grant-writing and submission process by maintaining and updating grants boilerplate, creating first draft application materials, managing the collaboration and feedback process with senior staff, and finalizing proposals and supporting documents.
  • Work closely with grants accountants to assist with fiscal management of grants and contracts in the pre-award and post-award life cycle to include monitoring grant expenditures
  • Write grant reports and provide oversight and support to program staff to ensure interim and final grant reports are completed and submitted in compliance with the grantors’ instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, and policies
  • Liaise with funders for grant activation, clarification of expenses, budgets, and program deliverables. Communicate with grantors to resolve issues affecting a grant’s proposed scope of work, budget, staffing, or other areas that create barriers to grant completion in a timely manner
  • Maintain grant records that comply with grantors’ audit requirements to include correspondences, narratives, budgets, attachments, award announcements, acknowledgment letters, progress reports
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development and Communications to identify opportunities and approaches for grantor relations, stewardship, and cultivation.
  • Manage administrative compliance with grant requirements including annual SAM renewal and 5% (LVAP) certification.
  • Additional duties as assigned
