Grants Works is a grants consulting company that partners with nonprofit organizations, businesses, educational institutions, and local governments to find, obtain, manage, and comply with federal and other government grants. We are federal grant management specialists. Grants Works owns and operates Grants Works Academy, an online source of training on grant readiness, grant seeking, and grant management. Our services and training help organizations strengthen their capacity to compete for grants, secure funding for programs, services, and innovation, and integrate systems-based grant management processes into their operations.


We are searching for an experienced Marketing Manager to effectively promote the firm’s services and products, develop and manage strategic campaigns, and enhance the firm’s positioning. This is a full-time role that reports directly to the CEO.


The Marketing Manager will develop and implement a multi-pronged marketing strategy for Grants Works as an innovator and leader in federal grant consulting. The Marketing Manager will assess the firm’s strategic goals and existing positioning and develop a detailed plan and related initiatives to increase the firm’s visibility, identify additional markets for Grants Works’ services and products including licensing opportunities currently under development, and regularly track the effectiveness of specific marketing campaigns as well as the overall plan.


The Marketing Manager will also review, assess, and lead any changes to the firm’s existing social media and content marketing efforts, oversee and organize promotional events, enhance and ensure adherence to the firm’s brand, oversee the creation or modification of all marketing assets, and connect every marketing initiative to measurable business outcomes including leads, client acquisition and retention, partnerships, and company visibility.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:


Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Assess business goals and collaborate internally to refine and solidify target markets, company positioning, and value proposition.
  • Serve as a strategic marketing advisor to the CEO, providing insights and recommendations on marketing trends and initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and measure campaigns to increase website traffic, leads, and sales.
  • Develop and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), maintain KPI and other analytics reporting to extract key insights, and enhance marketing initiatives to maximize goal attainment.
  • Lead the execution of marketing campaigns from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Operations Manager to develop and implement product licensing program. 
  • Design and implement actionable plans to enhance audience engagement at conferences, in-person and online training events, podcast appearances, and in-person speaking engagements.
  • Oversee and optimize email marketing campaigns to engage prospective and current clients.
  • Oversee the update and maintenance of the company’s website to reflect the latest offerings and industry trends.


Positioning and Branding

  • Manage and promote the position of the Grants Works brand, services, and learning products.
  • Ensure all external communications and marketing initiatives align with the company’s overall branding direction and strategy.
  • Coordinate internally to ensure promotional materials, social media engagement, and events align with the company brand.


Event and Content Management

  • Plan and organize the company’s participation in relevant industry conferences, ensuring effective representation and engagement.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute virtual and in-person events, manage logistics, communications, and marketing materials.
  • Oversee speaking opportunities for the CEO in partnership with other team members.
  • Develop engaging programs for events, workshops, and webinars that support the company’s mission.


Operations, Project, and Budget Management

  • Develop annual marketing budget that aligns with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Lead marketing projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets and resources, coordinating cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Maintain detailed project plans and schedules, delegating tasks as necessary to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
  • Identify new and/or manage existing freelance marketing talent to expand marketing capacity within the company.
  • Coordinate activities implemented by the firm’s social media and email marketing contractors. 


Audience and Stakeholder Relations

  • Build strong relationships with audience members, including current and prospective clients, partners, sponsors, and event attendees.
  • Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with partners and vendors for online and in-person events.
  • Serve as a liaison between the audience and the company to collect and incorporate feedback into future events and engagements.


Creative Development and Execution

  • Collaborate with the marketing and content teams to ensure all materials support the company’s objectives and enhance brand visibility.
  • Leverage storytelling to highlight the company’s values, mission, case studies, and success stories.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience with developing and assessment of marketing campaigns, digital marketing tools, online marketing, SEO/SEM, Google Analytics, and web design.
  • Exceptional project management skills with a track record of handling multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Creative and strategic thinker, capable of developing unique engagement strategies tailored to different audience types.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, able to connect well with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Proficient in virtual event platforms, project management software (Asana, etc.), and communication tools (Zoom, Teams).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to convey ideas creatively and clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and source impactful speaking opportunities for senior leadership.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills; able to engage effectively with diverse audiences.


Working Conditions

  • Moderate travel is required for in-person events, conferences, and meetings.
  • This is a remote position, though the Marketing Manager must be available for in-person travel to events, conferences, and meetings as needed.
