Job Summary
The Legal Services Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of AAFSC’s immigration legal services program, ensuring high-quality legal representation and guidance for newly arrived immigrants, asylum seekers, and other underserved community members. With strategic guidance and supervision from the Assistant Executive Director, the Legal Services Manager will assess and implement systems to streamline and deliver legal screenings and casework, referrals, outreach, and reporting. The Manager will also lead community engagement efforts, including Know Your Rights workshops and legal clinics.
Duties And Responsibilities
Program Management
Provide day-to-day oversight for AAFSC’s legal services program, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed legal assistance.
Monitor program deliverables, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and legal regulations.
Develop internal systems to track legal cases, applications, and program impact using case management software.
Provide regular reports on program performance and client outcomes to funders and executive leadership.
Direct Legal Services
Oversee and conduct legal intakes, screenings, consultations, and case assessments to determine eligibility for immigration services and coordinate services as appropriate.
Complete and manage casework documentation including conflict checks, client case files, and telephone logs.
Manage, coordinate, and schedule legal consultations and legal clinics for immigration attorney(s).
Ensure delivery of key legal services, including asylum applications, work authorization, family reunification, TPS, SIJS, U/T visas, VAWA, and other immigration relief.
Maintain an active caseload as needed, providing direct legal representation or referral to partner organizations.
Stay updated on immigration law developments and ensure the team is informed of policy changes affecting clients.
Community Engagement & Outreach
Lead and facilitate Know Your Rights workshops, legal clinics, and outreach events in collaboration with community partners.
Develop and maintain relationships with pro bono immigration panels, government agencies, legal service providers, and community organizations.
Maintain referral resources and serve as a linkage between clients and community resources.
Represent AAFSC in legal service coalitions, advocacy efforts, and community forums.
Support grant writing and fundraising efforts to sustain and expand legal services.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
Participate in AAFSC meetings and internal and external trainings as assigned.
Participate in team problem solving to ensure the smooth and effective functioning of programs.
Assist in preparation for site visits and external visitors.
Collaborate with other AAFSC programs and teams to facilitate referrals and wrap-around service delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.
