Position Description
The Legal Aid Society of Hawai‘i, a non-profit law firm, endeavors to provide civil legal services throughout the State of Hawai‘i to those most in need. Our mission is to provide essential legal services addressing critical legal needs through high quality legal advocacy, outreach and education in the pursuit of fairness and justice. The Staff Attorney will be based out of the Honolulu Office focusing on Fair Hosing Enforcement & Rental Housing. Responsibilities include advising and representing clients in Housing matters (including eviction defense and perseveration of housing subsidies), Fair Housing enforcement (including administrative processes, state and federal court litigation and fair housing testing). In addition to client representation, Staff Attorneys participate in community engagement, outreach and education, statewide initiatives, and in and day–to-day oversight of non-attorney staff. Staff attorneys also engage and develop relationships and collaborations with a range of public and private community partners, including governmental agencies, and community-based organizations, to ensure integrative services and address systemic barriers facing the client community.
Compensation and Benefits: $58,472 - $76,506 commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits package includes $150/month law school student loan repayment, medical and dental insurance, 401K match, life insurance, long term care insurance, and long term disability insurance.
