Essential Duties And Responsibilities (but Not Limited To)
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and briefs
- E-filing with courts
- Organize and maintain case files, including indexing and filing documents
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court hearings for attorneys
- Coordinate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in legal proceedings
- Prepare correspondence and communicate with clients on behalf of attorneys
- Assist in the preparation for trials, including organizing exhibits and witness lists
- Manage administrative tasks such as billing, timekeeping, and record keeping
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information questions and requests
- Recording attorney time entries and preparing client invoices
- Answering phones in a pleasant and professional manner and communicating with clients, lenders, professionals, and other attorneys, daily by phone, email, and mailed correspondence
- Opening new files and filing documents throughout each transaction
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Ability to draft legal documents with precision and clarity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant
- Associate degree or certification in paralegal studies is a plus
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to the specific practice area is beneficial
- Knowledge in document management system iManage and billing system Orion is a plus
