Description:

The Credit Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the financial health of the company by managing credit risk, overseeing accounts receivable, and facilitating timely collections. This position requires a blend of strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional communication abilities to effectively interact with customers, internal stakeholders, and management. You will be responsible for evaluating creditworthiness, setting credit limits, and monitoring customer accounts to minimize potential losses. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, a keen understanding of financial principles, and the ability to navigate complex situations with professionalism and composure.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze credit applications and financial statements to assess creditworthiness.

  • Establish and manage credit limits for customers.

  • Monitor customer accounts for overdue payments and potential delinquencies.

  • Develop and implement collection strategies to recover outstanding balances.

  • Communicate with customers regarding payment terms and outstanding balances.

  • Maintain accurate records of all credit transactions and collections activities.

  • Prepare reports on credit risk and collections performance.

  • Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure smooth credit processes.

  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in credit management.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of credit policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Expected to have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a credit or collections role.

  • Expected to have a strong understanding of credit risk assessment and management principles.

  • Expected to have working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

  • Expected to have general knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook.

  • Expected to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Expected to have strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Expected to be detail-oriented and have a high level of accuracy.

  • Expected to be self-motivated and able to work independently.

  • Expected to have a proven ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions.

  • Expected to have a professional demeanor and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with loan origination and management.

  • Knowledge of industry-specific credit reporting agencies.

  • Experience with collections software and systems.

  • Strong writing and research skills.

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Experience with sales and marketing principles.

  • Experience with managing multiple tasks and priorities.

  • Experience with leadership and team management.

  • Experience with developing and implementing credit policies and procedures.

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
