What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Coordinator position at National Oilwell Varco?
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates all activities related to the procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies beginning with intent to purchase through final delivery, inspection, and product use
- Solicits and evaluates proposals for products
- Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the product balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs
- Prepares purchase orders checking for accuracy and completeness before issuing
- Reviews acknowledgments for agreement with purchase orders and resolves any discrepancies with the supplier.
- Ensure product is delivered on schedule, at the correct price, to NOV quality standards
- Maintains timely control of purchase orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to ensure accurate retention of records
- Provide vendor MTR/COC when requested
- Expedite material, when necessary, through review of open orders and corresponding promise dates
- Provide feedback to operations and sales regarding vendor delays
- Carry out other duties when business requirements dictate as reasonably expected by Supply Chain Manager
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Experience in data analysis and procurement
- Familiarity with supply chain processes (inventory management, planning, procurement, warehouse management)
- Working knowledge of MS Office, relational databases, and ERP systems
- Ability to interpret and analyze statistical data, information, and financial reports
- Problem-solving aptitude
- Understand the drivers that impact the performance and growth of business
- Will be energized by challenges and drawn towards opportunities (Drive for Results)
- Confident and professional when representing the company in person and writing (Presentation Skills/ Written Communication)

Qualifications:
- BS/BA in Business, Mathematics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Professional certifications desired (APICs, CPIM, CSCP, Six Sigma, or other)
- Knowledge of Oracle is a plus
- 3 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles
- Familiarity with ERP systems
- Organized, disciplined, self-directed approach to work tasks
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment
- Ability to interact across various organizational levels
