What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Custodial Worker (MVO) position at National Park Service?
These positions may be filled for a six month seasonal period, but can be vary due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: Mid June-July 2025.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience
ICTAP/CTAP Statement: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies.
This position performs the full range of custodial work including cleaning and servicing vault toilets, buildings, campgrounds, and emptying trash receptacles. These positions are required to operate a government vehicle to perform assigned work and may provide general labor assistance to others in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, roads, trails, etc. These are uniformed positions and must be able to respond to visitors politely.

Capulin Volcano National Monument - Capulin Volcano National Monument is an 800-acre park located in rural northeast New Mexico approximately 32 miles east of Raton, NM and 57 miles west of Clayton NM off U.S. Highway 64/87. Elevations range from 7,242 to 8,182 feet. Capulin Volcano is located near the villages of Capulin, Folsom and Des Moines. There is limited services in these smaller villages. Raton (population 5,960) and Trinidad CO (56 miles distant) (population 8,175) have housing, educational, medical, religious, cultural and shopping opportunities. Average daily temperatures range from 40s to 50s F in winter and 80s to low 90s F in summer. This is a great location in northern New Mexico to pursue outdoor adventures and participate in recreational activities in the southern Rocky Mountains.
