Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to lead the human capital strategy for a healthcare organization committed to excellence in patient care. The CHRO will be a key executive leader responsible for shaping the organization’s workforce strategy, driving talent acquisition, enhancing employee engagement, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of high performance and patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership & Workforce Planning

  • Develop and execute comprehensive HR strategies that align with the organization’s mission, vision, and patient care objectives.
  • Partner with the CEO, COO, CMO, and other senior leaders to integrate HR initiatives into overall business strategies.

  • Lead a healthcare-specific talent acquisition strategy, ensuring the recruitment of top physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative personnel.
  • Implement proactive recruitment pipelines for hard-to-fill roles, including partnerships with medical schools, residency programs, and professional organizations.
  • Oversee credentialing and licensing verification processes for all clinical employees to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Oversee physician compensation planning in alignment with Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute compliance.
  • Develop innovative healthcare employee benefits programs, including wellness initiatives, tuition reimbursement, and mental health support services.
  • Address burnout and well-being challenges within the workforce by implementing strategies to support work-life balance and resiliency programs for healthcare providers.
  • Manage union and non-union labor relations, negotiating fair and sustainable labor contracts while maintaining operational efficiency.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare employment regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission (JCAHO) standards, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, and other labor laws.
  • Partner with legal counsel to mitigate employment-related risks and ensure HR policies adhere to evolving healthcare regulations.
  • Implement employee safety initiatives, including workplace violence prevention, infection control measures, and compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Oversee EEO, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, ensuring the organization fosters a culture of respect and belonging for all employees.

Employee Engagement, Training & Leadership Development

  • Develop and lead leadership training programs for physicians, nurses, and healthcare administrators to build future leaders.
  • Implement succession planning strategies for key leadership positions across the healthcare system.
  • Oversee clinical and non-clinical training programs, including continuing education requirements for medical professionals.
  • Conduct employee satisfaction and engagement surveys, analyzing trends and developing action plans for improvement.
  • Drive initiatives that support a positive organizational culture, including patient-centered care training and service excellence programs.

HR Technology & Digital Transformation

  • Lead the implementation of HR technology solutions, including HRIS, payroll systems, applicant tracking systems, and employee engagement platforms.
  • Use AI and predictive analytics to optimize workforce management, improve hiring decisions, and enhance talent retention strategies.
  • Implement telehealth workforce solutions to support remote healthcare staffing and virtual patient care initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
15 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a healthcare leadership role (hospitals, health systems, clinics, or healthcare organizations).
✅ Experience managing multi-site healthcare operations, including hospitals, urgent care centers, specialty practices, and telehealth staffing.
✅ Strong knowledge of healthcare labor laws, medical credentialing, and regulatory compliance.
✅ Proven expertise in employee relations, physician contracting, labor relations, and talent management.
