Duties and Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
- Database Architecture and Optimization
- Design and implement scalable database architectures to support current and future business needs.
- Perform advanced analysis and optimization of database queries, indexes, and stored procedures.
- Lead efforts in database migrations, upgrades, and high-availability solutions.
- Advanced Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution
- Resolve complex database issues, including performance bottlenecks and system failures.
- Provide expert-level technical support for database-related escalations.
- Collaboration and Leadership
- Collaborate with development, analytics, and infrastructure teams to align database solutions with business objectives.
- Mentor and guide junior database engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database systems, standards, and processes.
- Data Security and Compliance
- Ensure databases meet stringent security and compliance standards.
- Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery and backup strategies for critical systems.
- Cross-Functional Strategy and Support
- Partner with business units to deliver database solutions that enhance reporting, analytics, and operational efficiency.
- Act as a senior technical advisor to leadership on database-related projects and innovations.
- On-Call and Availability
- Participate in on-call rotation to address critical database issues and ensure uptime of key systems.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. There is a possibility for overtime and on-call rotation hours.

Required Education, Experience & Competencies:
Formal Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Database certifications for Azure, AWS, and/or Microsoft are a plus.
Knowledge & Experience
- 6-8 years of experience in database administration and architecture.
- Proficient in SQL/T-SQL and ETL.
- Proficient in Azure or AWS platform.
- Experience with Data Modeling and Python.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing large-scale database projects and complex environments.
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise database architecture, security, and management.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and strategic thinking abilities.
