The Telecom Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization’s enterprise-level telecommunication infrastructure. This role involves leading telecom projects, optimizing telecom systems for performance and security, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Telecom Engineer also acts as a technical expert, providing leadership and mentorship to the telecom administration team and collaborating with other IT teams to integrate telecom solutions with the broader IT infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
- Telecom Infrastructure Design:
- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-level telecom architectures, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability.
- Oversee telecom infrastructure projects, from planning and design through to implementation and maintenance.
- Telecom System Optimization:
- Monitor and analyze telecom system performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks and vulnerabilities.
- Implement advanced telecom technologies and optimization strategies to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Security and Compliance:
- Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies to protect the organization’s telecom infrastructure from threats.
- Conduct regular security assessments and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Incident Response and Troubleshooting:
- Lead incident response efforts for critical telecom incidents, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal business impact.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support for complex telecom issues and act as the final escalation point for the telecom administration team.
- Leadership and Mentorship:
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the telecom administration team, fostering professional growth and technical development.
- Act as a technical advisor to IT leadership on telecom-related matters.
- Collaboration and Integration:
- Work closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of telecom systems with network, server, and security solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement in telecom operations, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and security.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of telecom architecture, security measures, and performance metrics.
- Prepare and present regular reports to IT leadership on telecom performance, security, and project progress.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. There is a possibility for overtime and on-call rotation hours.

Required Education, Experience & Competencies:
Formal Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Knowledge & Experience
- 6-8 years of experience in telecom administration and architecture.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing a large-scale UCaaS and CCaaS implementation project support of complex telecom environments.
- Strong VOIP, TCP/IP and routing knowledge (TCP/UDP/IP/ICMP/etc.)
- Deep understanding of telecom configuration and call-tree and queue setup.
- Experience with TCP/IP troubleshooting.
- Experience with Voice/data cabling and WIFI.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.
- Strong documentation skills.
