Position Summary
The National Society of Black Engineers Summer Engineering Experience for Kids Operations Site Director (OSD) is responsible for managing all logistics at their respective site. The OSD will plan, coordinate, and monitor all processes related to the program to ensure an efficient infrastructure. The OSD should be adept with using a computer, Office 365 and the like as these tools will be utilized daily to manage and communicate site operations. OSDs will work in partnership with a Personnel Site Director. Please note that other related duties may be assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Core duties and responsibilities include the following.
Training Requirements
- Participates in Site Leadership Training in preparation for NSBE SEEK season
- Participates in instructional webinars in preparation for the NSBE SEEK season
- Participates in American Camp Association Trainings in preparation for NSBE SEEK season
Mentor Operations
- Manages mentors during training sessions
- Create a NSBE SEEK site staff communication channel
- Completes and submits mentor observation evaluations to WHQ for all Mentors
- Report any issues to WHQ staff
- Assist with NSBE SEEK Lead Mentor and Mentor interviews
Site Operations
- Leads site set-up and perform facilities walk-through
- Allocates and maintains all camp supplies
- Communicates with school officials and troubleshoot facilities issues
- Prepare and facilitate virtual Parent Orientation.
- Executes daily debrief meetings with PSD for all site staff
- Serves as a first point of contact for all Corporate and Sponsor questions/comments/concerns
- Coordinates Competition Fridays, NSBE Jr. Nights, and other SEEK special events
- Streamlines and disseminates all camp-wide communications through appropriate channels
- Documents and reports any issues using appropriate channels to WHQ staff (student injuries, behavioral issues, staffing concerns, etc.)
- Keeps WHQ staff informed of all developments with mentors, parents, students, sponsors, etc.
- Supports Personnel Site Director in staff management, as requested
- Submits weekly reports to WHQ SEEK Staff (competition scores, attendance, goals, etc.)
- Supports overall implementation of the SEEK program through additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Be a local candidate
- Previous NSBE SEEK experience. At minimum 2 years of mentor experience and/or 1 year of Site Director experience, or site/community events facilitator experience.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must submit to a criminal background check
- Have intensive leadership experience
- Have proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of internal and external partners
Desired Qualifications:
- Active member of NSBE
- Degree in a STEM or Education field
- Program management experience
- Ability to support and lead a group of peers
- Ability to supervise and manage a group of children of varying ages
- Previous experience with leading and providing instructions to K-12 students
- Exemplary skills in organization, event-planning, volunteer coordination, and programming
- Familiarity with public speaking to wide audience of stakeholders
- CPR/First Aid Certified, preferred
