Job Summary
National Support Services is seeking dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team. This role is crucial in providing individuals with the tools and support they need to achieve independence, reduce problematic behaviors, and enhance their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities as outlined in their Behavior Support Plan (BSP) or Individual Program Plan (ISP).
- Implement behavior analysis teaching strategies to focus on skill acquisition and reduce interfering behaviors.
- Ensure safety and continuous support by maintaining a vigilant posture throughout shifts, staying awake and alert.
- Facilitate recreation, leisure activities, functional communication training, and community inclusion.
- Provide extensions of therapeutic interventions as directed by the Behavior Therapist or supervisor.
- Understand and implement multiple Behavior Support Plans tailored to each client’s goals.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily data collection, time sheets, therapist checklists, and communication logs.
- Push, pull, lift up to 75 lbs., and stand unaided for up to 3 hours; navigate stairs.
- Participate actively in monthly and quarterly team meetings.
- Transport clients in a personal vehicle as needed to support BSP/IPP objectives.
- Perform general upkeep and ensure the cleanliness of the home or facility.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 75 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle (for client transportation).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to undergo a background check.
- Patience, empathy, and commitment to enhancing client independence.
