Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant at the National Vascular Associates' Petersburg location is responsible for providing comprehensive support to healthcare providers and ensuring a smooth, efficient patient experience. This role includes direct patient interaction, assisting with medical procedures, maintaining clinical environments, and managing documentation. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accompany patients to exam and procedure rooms.
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
- Educate patients on procedures, aftercare, and follow-up instructions, ensuring they understand their care plan.
- Provide support and reassurance to patients during procedures.
- Assist with scheduling patient tests and treatments.
- Set up exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
- Assist providers in preparing patients and the facility for procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any abnormalities to the provider.
- Review the schedule and organize patient flow efficiently.
- Document patient interactions and procedures accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain and prepare supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
- Ensure that treatment rooms are cleaned and restocked at the end of the workday.
- Adhere to all healthcare regulations and protocols, including OSHA standards and infection control practices.
- Be able to travel to all practice locations when assigned or needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- HS diploma or equivalent required
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) experience preferred, however willing to train on the job
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to multitask and effectively communicate with patients, peers, and management
- Excellent patient communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and scheduling software.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
