Job Description : SBIRT Chemical Health CounselorPosition Overview : The Native American Community Clinic is seeking a dedicated and licensed Chemical Health professional with an LACD or UMICAD to join our team. As an SBIRT Chemical Health Counselor, you will be responsible for conducting Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) assessments within NACCs dosing and office based MOUD programs, providing vital support to individuals seeking substance abuse treatment and recovery services. Your role will be pivotal in helping clients identify their treatment needs, promoting access to appropriate care, and ensuring continuity of care.Responsibilities :
- SBIRT Assessments :
- Conduct comprehensive SBIRT assessments for individuals in NACCs dosing and office based MOUD programs, utilizing screening tools to identify barriers.
- Utilize culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approaches during assessments, acknowledging the unique needs and experiences of our clients.
- Treatment Planning and Coordination :
- Collaborate with the program team to develop individualized treatment plans for clients based on SBIRT assessment findings.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clients have access to comprehensive and integrated care, including referral to appropriate treatment and support services.
- Advocate for clients' needs and through maintaining a patient-centered approach to care.
- Assist clients in navigating the complexities of the healthcare system and provide ongoing support
- Promote awareness of substance abuse treatment resources and services available within the Native American community and the broader healthcare system.
- Counseling and Support :
- Provide brief interventions and counseling sessions to clients, assisting them in understanding the impact of substance use
- Offer support and motivation to clients to engage in treatment and work towards their personal recovery goals.
- Documentation and Reporting :
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of SBIRT assessments, treatment plans, counseling sessions, and client progress in compliance with clinic policies and regulations.
- Cultural Competence :
- Demonstrate an understanding and respect for Native American culture, traditions, and historical trauma during interactions with clients and their families.
- Integrate culturally appropriate approaches into the SBIRT process to ensure a positive and effective therapeutic experience.Requirements :
- LADC or UMICAD licensure
- Bachelor's degree in behavioral health, counseling, social work, or a related field strongly preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in substance abuse treatment, SBIRT, and counseling, with a preference for experience in Native American communities or culturally diverse settings.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance abuse treatment and the SBIRT model.
- Familiarity with the unique challenges faced by Native American populations regarding substance abuse and recovery.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in documenting client information accurately and efficiently.
