What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Property Accountant position at Native American Connections?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Property Accountant will play a key role in the accounting department. Including daily accounts payable invoice entry for ALL NAC properties in Real Page, bi-weekly check runs, recording receipt of rent and checks in Real Page, and other accounting-related activities as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Payable:
- Primary Accounts Payable point of contact for NAC properties with employees, properties, and vendors.
- Responsible for maintaining vendor listing and new vendor setup.
- Work with Property maintenance and property management staff to verify purchase orders, invoices, and proper coding.
- Research all past due notices or billing discrepancy items to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payment.
- Organize and maintain vendor/payment files.
- Comply with internal controls policies & procurement procedures and provide support during the annual audit process.
- Work closely with Sr. Property Accountant to ensure timely recording of revenue expenses to facilitate financial reporting
- Periodic search of the CMS List of Excluded Individuals and Entities as it relates to vendors and contract professionals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Accounts Receivable:
- Primary Accounts Payable point of contact for NAC properties with employees, properties, and vendors.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating accounts receivable.
- Work with Property management and NAC accounting to ensure proper recording of rent and payments.
- Organize and maintain accounts receivable files.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- AA in Accounting/Finance or related degree.
- Three to five of property management accounting experience.
- Knowledge of fund & cost accounting with nonprofit experience.
- Real Page accounting software is strongly preferred and QuickBooks experience is required.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Able to effectively interact with others in a positive and professional environment.
- Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational and time management skills.
