Native American Connections – Director of Human Resources
 
Native American Connections (NAC) is looking for a dedicated professional to serve in the position of Director of Human Resources. The ideal candidate for the position must be aligned with the NAC’s environment and culture and focus on fulfilling the NAC’s mission, vision, and values.
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for formulating and executing the human resources strategy for growth-driven non-profit organization and spearheads mission-critical HR initiatives. Director as a synergetic human resources expert, defines HR functions and leads corporate culture, talent acquisition, leadership development, team engagement, DEI, and employee retention programs, collaborating with organization-wide leaders to attract, develop, and retain talent. The Director is key to building a talent acquisition culture with new processes, systems, and standards for recruiting. The HR leader acts as a key adviser and trusted thought partner to the Senior Leadership Team. Serves as a talented organizational and interpersonal communicator and people-development focused HR leader with a strategic mindset, an extraordinary level of empathy, and hands-on engagement in aligning strategic and operational goals to achieve superior results.
The successful candidate for this position must have: 
  • Possess at minimum a bachelor’s degree with a field of study that includes human resources, business, public administration, or social sciences.
  • Five or more years of experience in human resources management is required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification highly desired. Previous experience as a director or C-Suite level experience in a healthcare and housing setting ideal.

  • Extensive background in transforming teams and cultures, business, and HR strategies.
  • A responsive Human Resources Executive must have well-rounded experience in all functional areas of HR, including employee relations and performance management, streamlined HR processes for increased efficiency and cost savings.
  • Engaging Servant style leadership focused on empowering teammates through training, goal setting and coaching.
  • Focus on increased employee satisfaction levels with effective communication strategies.
  • A strategic focused leader passionate about creating exceptional employee and customer centricity.
  • A working knowledge of and experience in a non-profit setting, be driven to succeed, be able to handle multiple priorities; manage the stress of multiple, concurrent demands; possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to skillfully engage others; and a good steward of the organization’s culture and strong community history.
  • Experience working with Native American organizations or tribal governments ideal.
  • Awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs, or willingness to learn; an ability at times to meet and deal effectively with tribal governments and Indian health organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures.
  • Employ tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.
  • MS Office proficiency.
  • Requires strong managerial and leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, teams, managers, supervisors, and vendors.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of recruiting minority populations.
  • Experience in working with the Native American population ideal.
Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000
NATIVE PREFERENCE: Preference may be given to qualified Native American Indians according to the Indian Preference Hiring Act, CFR 25 USC 472. Other than Indian Preference, Native American Connections, Inc. adheres to all provisions of the Equal Employment Opportunities Act.
