Title: Youth Prevention Re-Engagement Coordinator

Location: Youth Residential Floor 1 - 620 NE 2nd St., Gresham, OR 97030

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 5:00PM with flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed for community events.

Wage Range: $23.00 - $28.00 Hourly, Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

The Reengagement Coordinator will be responsible for reconnecting youth to education systems to help them succeed in their academics. They will help to enroll youth into the NARAs Reengagement Program, which supports youth to achieve their educational goals. This position will be point person for fostering relationships with educational partners in the community, track and enter enrollment data and work with the evaluation team to collect required information. This position will be an integral part of the Youth Prevention Program and support the Youth Residential Treatment Center (YRTC) to provide regular groups/family nights/conferences, and other duties as assigned.

What you will do:

  • Act as a point person for education partnerships within the community, enrolling youth into NARA's re-engagement program and maintaining and fostering health relationships with youth from
  • Facilitate groups, family nights, conferences and attend regularly various required meetings.
  • Enter enrollment data into tracking systems and communicate with YRTC counseling team, child and family team, probation officers or DHS workers about students' progress
  • Prepare students for standardized tests required by the state (Star 360 assessment, Smarter Balance, and OAKS) and reinforce classroom rules and YRTC policies
  • Help support the YRTC Education Coordinator to work with special education teachers from MEWA to adapt lessons to YRTC Students with learning disabilities and emotional or behavioral disorders needs and monitor YRTC student progress.
  • Participate in training and become certified as a trainer in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST), and Question Persuade Refer (QPR)

Qualifications:

  • Either High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification required.
  • Understanding of education systems and traditional and alternative paths to graduation
  • Experience working with Tribal youth
  • Reliable transportation to / from work. Current drivers license.
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of two years sobriety / clean time, if in recovery.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation for all potential hires in order to determine any history of sexual and child about and / or any other relevant history.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen for all potential hires.
