Job Title: Accounts Receivable Clerk

Position Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for managing all aspects of customer payments, including processing credit card transactions, ACH payments, and checks. This role ensures timely and accurate application of payments, generates customer statements, applies finance charges as needed, and supports the customer care process by creating care call tickets. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to providing excellent internal and external customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and apply customer payments including:
- Credit card transactions
- ACH (Automated Clearing House) transfers
- Paper checks and electronic check submissions
- Ensure daily payment batches are balanced and reconciled.
- Generate and distribute monthly customer account statements.
- Monitor overdue accounts and apply finance charges in accordance with company policy.
- Assist with the resolution of payment discrepancies or customer inquiries.
- Maintain accurate customer records and payment history in the accounting system.
- Create and manage Care Call tickets for billing concerns or customer account issues, ensuring appropriate follow-up and resolution.
- Collaborate with Customer Service and Sales teams to ensure smooth account management.
- Perform account reconciliations and support month-end closing procedures.
- Adhere to internal controls and assist with audits as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred
- 2 years of accounts receivable or general accounting experience
- Experience with payment processing (credit card, ACH, check)
- Familiarity with finance charges and customer account statements
- Strong data entry skills and high attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Experience with accounting or ERP software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
