Based in Houston, TX with a large manufacturing site outside of Houston and in the process of expanding this site to add more production. We pride ourselves on promoting a truly diverse company.
Extrusion Operator
The Extrusion Operator works with equipment that filters, transforms, and pelletizes thermoplastic materials. Starts the machines and adjusts the controls to manage the temperature, sizing rings, vacuum, air pressure, and extrusion speed. Measures and inspects extruded products to look for flaws and makes sure they adhere to specifications, adjusting controls as needed to change the final product.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operates all equipment assigned per standard operational procedures and parameter settings.
- Maintains a constant flow of material.
- Refer issues, problems, and any material non-conformances to leadership immediately to troubleshoot and determine root cause.
- Perform routine operational equipment maintenance such as screen changes and pelletizer blade changes, to keep machinery running optimally.
- Interprets and responds to all plant parameter settings to maintain a steady throughput of material through the extrusion line.
- Examines product psychically to ensure conformance standards are being met and inform the quality team if any discrepancies that are found.
PREFFERED SKILLS:
- Be able to work long periods of time on your feet with minimum breaks.
- Able to lift 20lbs of weight, perform repetitive work tasks with your hands, and work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Must be able to communicate with others and teammates.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage timeline while prioritizing workload.
- Ability to generate interdepartmental relationships and convey technical data, and information to people of varying levels of understanding.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years in a production environment
- 3 years of experience with extrusion operation (specifically film extrusion, blow molding, and injection molding preferred) or 1 year experience with a technical certification.
- Has a high level of mechanical aptitude and operational theory. Concepts needed include motor loading, pressure vessels, varied pump designs and operations, vacuum degassing, melt filtration, and heat transfer and fluid flow.
Physical Demands
Frequently: Standing, Walking, Sitting, Handing, Finger movements, Reaching outward and above the shoulders.
Occasionally: Sitting, Climbing, Squat/Kneel, Lift/Carry up to 30lbs, Push/Pull 30lbs.
