What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Nature Soy?
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician will troubleshoot equipment issues and perform repairs and preventative maintenance services, ensuring all safety measures are followed. Have good hands-on working knowledge of all aspects of hydraulic, pneumatic and basic machine electrical systems. Possess the ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics for all equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides emergency, unscheduled repairs of production equipment as needs arise also performs scheduled preventive maintenance services of production equipment. As well as building maintenance (non janitorial).
- Possesses mechanical skills including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing and carpentry. Troubleshoots issues of all process and packaging machines. (Coils, valves, PLCs, etc.)
- Coordinates and expedites other repair operations with production supervisor.
- Ensures equipment is running properly to achieve optimal output.
- Performs daily work orders.
- Understands and complies with Food Safety and GMP Standards.
- Available to work overtime when required. (Including weekend work)
- Knowledge of OSHA compliance.
Qualifications:
- Five years or more related mechanical experience in industrial manufacturing environment, preferably (but not necessarily) in food processing facilities.
- High School or Technical School education preferred.
- Ability to systematically troubleshoot and diagnose issues quickly, as well as quickly develop a solid plan to move ahead with a solution.
- Must speak English, bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
- Knowledge of 6S Lean Workplace protocol is a plus.
- Knowledge of Excel and Word is a plus.
- Ability to apply common sense and logical reasoning to carry out detailed tasks in a timely fashion.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds. On occasion.
