Job Title: Student Intern – Marketing & Communications
Organization: Nature’s Playhouse, Ferndale
Location: Hybrid (Virtual 1 in-person day per week)
Commitment: 10-15 hours per week, February – May 2025
Possibility of multi-semester extension
Compensation: $200 biweekly stipend
Nature’s Playhouse is a wellness center for families seeking holistic health and well-being. We offer an impressive range of services designed to nurture every stage of family life. From behavioral health and physical therapy to fitness, birthing, and lactation support, family enrichment programs, infant and child safety classes, and free support groups, Nature’s Playhouse also leads the charge in perinatal community education, advocacy, and outreach, creating a ripple effect of positive impact throughout the state. We are seeking a dynamic and creative student intern to work closely with our leadership team, offering an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing, communications, and community outreach in a family wellness center.
- Assist with website updates using Squarespace.
- Create compelling visual content (photography, videography) for Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.
- Design marketing materials and graphics using Canva.
- Revise and/or create new marketing materials as needed.
- Compile and organize advertising folders.
- Identify and establish relationships with community partners, including local doctor’s offices and businesses aligned with our values.
- Distribute marketing materials to community locations.
- Assist with community events, including setup and teardown, as needed.
- Track work hours and progress using a Notion tracker or timesheet system.
- Current student at Wayne State University or College for Creative Studies, preferably studying Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Squarespace, Canva, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Experience with photography and videography.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in social media content coordination
- Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Reliable and prompt, with a professional demeanor.
- Able to work independently
- Able to work in a family oriented environment
- The internship is hybrid, with most work conducted virtually and one in-person day per week.
