Job Description:
As a Fuel Distribution Systems Worker with the Naval Supply Systems Command, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our fuel distribution systems. Your primary responsibilities will include receiving, storing, transferring, and issuing both aviation and ground fuels. You will also be responsible for operating and maintaining a complete fuels distribution system(s), as well as operating one or more type of special purpose design aviation and ground fuel-tank truck vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
• Receive and transfer fuel by coupling and uncoupling hoses, closing and opening valves, starting and stopping pumps, and monitoring gauges, meters, and filter separators.
• Operate and maintain a complete fuels distribution system(s) to receive, store, transfer, and issue both aviation and ground fuels.
• Operate one or more type of special purpose design aviation and ground fuel-tank truck vehicles having a capacity of up to 10,000 gallons and gross vehicle weight in excess of 100,000 pounds.
• Transport fuel from the bulk storage area to the flight line issue point and position the vehicle for the refueling/de-fueling task as required.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have a Class A CDL with Air Brakes, Tanker, and HAZMAT endorsements with no restrictions at the time of hire. Additionally, you must be able to distinguish between basic colors and shades of colors, lift and carry weights up to 75 pounds, and wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
