WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Compensation and Benefits Manager oversees the compensation and benefits functions for Navien Inc. and Navien Canada, Inc. This individual is also responsible for ensuring that company compensation and benefits programs and payroll processes are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations.
Responsibilities:
Supervisory
- This position manages payroll and benefits team members. Responsible for hiring, training, coaching and developing compensation team members.
Compensation
- Manages the implementation and administration of compensation programs
- Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives
- Provides advice to corporate staff on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations
- Designs creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans
- Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data
- Participates in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved. Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position
- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations
- Oversees the bi-weekly payroll processing for both US and Canada, including payroll taxes
- Participates in the Compensation Committee
Benefits:

- Analyzes programs, identifying opportunities for improvement and enhancement; researches and recommends changes to management
- Serves as the subject matter expert in properly preparing compliance programs under ERISA, the Treasury Department and other laws and regulations
- Maintains positive relationships with plan administrators, financial advisors, benefits brokers, and other service providers and vendors
- Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, best practices, and legal and regulatory changes in retirement planning and administration
Requirements:
- Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation, benefits and payroll
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including advanced Excel capabilities
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Solid time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the Company
- Drives efficiency in department process and procedures, while maintaining internal controls
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources or related field and five years of progressively responsible experience in employee compensation/benefits
- At least one year of experience managing subordinates
- Extensive knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to base compensation and incentive compensation programs, benefits, payroll, company policies, and operations
- Experience with level or self-funded benefit programs highly desired
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and certified compensation professional credentials preferred
- Experience in a small to medium sized CA based Company with remote employees
- Exposure to Canadian benefits and compensation helpful
Pay Scale: $135 - $140k (DOE) annually eligible for an annual bonus
