Summary
This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Naval Station Mayport, Florida. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties to maintain the recycling program around MWR facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness for patrons.

Leadership duties: Serves as the leader to Laborers, NA-3502-03, assigned to the MWR Recycling Program. Receives and relays verbal instructions to other co-workers members, conducts on-the-job training, demonstrates work methods, starts and sets the pace of work assignments. Ensures other staff members follow security, safety and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensures that worksite materials and tools are available. Problems are brought to the attention of the Recycling Program Coordinator for resolution.
Work performed: Provides hand and mechanical sorting of various metals, wood, plastics, glass and other non-metallic. Identifies and segregates assorted metal scrap by type and places in proper storage bin. Ensures storage bins and metal scrap receiving area are maintained properly and free of hazards. Incumbent provides for loading and unloading materials by hand, forklift, skid steer loader or other means and is responsible for loading and unloading vehicles of various sizes. Operates loading equipment including forklifts with capacity of up to twenty thousand pounds, skid steer loaders and various trucks and trailers up to twenty-five thousand pounds (GVWR). Incumbent delivers materials to end market
Assists the Program Manager in determining appropriate stocking levels, proper segregation of materials and quality assurance needed to ensure the most profitable sales to end markets. Operates certified weight scales and provides documentation to management and customers on materials/items weighed. Confirms the scale ticket has correct product written on it. Assists, in coordination with Manager, on incoming and outgoing shipments of materials and works with buyers to coordinate proper documentation of all materials both received and shipped out of the center for sale.
By direction of management, ensures compliance with Environmental guidelines when receiving materials into the center.
Other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of, or ability learn basic metals identification and recycling.
- Ability to operate and be licensed for forklifts, skid steer loaders, stake trucks, stake truck and flat bed/roll-off body trailer combination.
- Must be able to obtain a forklift license within 6 months of employment.
- Incumbent must be able to manipulate both the skid steer loader and controls at the same time. Incumbent must also be able to operate equipment in small spaces or confined areas. For example, raising and lowering bucket while dumping and using grappler while loading between roll-offs.
- Must also be able to operate a forklifts gear system in and out of a warehouse. For example, lowering and raising the forklift in confined spaces.
- Must possess or be qualified to obtain a Florida Class-E license and a US Government "White License" up to twenty-five thousand pounds, Incumbent must possess the ability to communicate with customers in a professional manor.
- Ability to lead others in the performance of work assigned.
