Responsibilities
This position reports to the Associate Warden of Operations at a multi-custody male correctional facility and performs administrative duties pertaining to the needs of the Associate Warden of Operations. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $37,782 - $66,120. Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do no need to reapply.
Note To Current State Employees
The salary grade for this position is NC08 (Salary Range: $37,782 - $66,120). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About Central Prison
Central Prison in Raleigh, NC has been in continuous service since 1884. It serves as the admission point into prison for adult male felons sentenced to 20 years or more and is the main medical and mental health center for male offenders. It also houses special populations, including death row and safe-keepers.
While security requires that certain offenders remain in their cells, there are more than 260 offender job assignments that include working in the kitchen, laundry, or canteen. Offenders also work as barbers, janitors, and clerks. Offenders can attend substance abuse group therapy meetings, Bible studies or other worship services.

- Reviewing completed tasks to ensure accuracy/integrity of information, working under stressful conditions in meeting daily/monthly deadlines, and compiling data for a variety of sources and reports.
- Receiving/processing sectional mail, maintaining confidentiality, and working well independently as well as in very proximity to offenders and other staff.
