The Opportunity:
The Learning & Development Clinical Specialist at North Central Health Care plays a critical role in designing, developing, and delivering training programs that support clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and professional development for healthcare staff. This position ensures that training is engaging, effective, and aligned with the unique needs of our behavioral health, substance use, skilled nursing, and other healthcare services.
This is a full-time, on-site position. The pay range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000 annually, based on experience.

What You’ll Do:
- Design, implement, and evaluate clinical education programs tailored to North Central Health Care’s diverse service areas, including behavioral health, skilled nursing, and substance use treatment.
- Develop engaging learning content in various formats, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training (ILT), virtual training, job aids, and self-paced study materials.
- Utilize best practices in adult learning theory to create interactive and impactful training experiences. Assess knowledge retention and adjust content accordingly.
- Adapt training to meet the needs of diverse clinical roles, from direct care providers to administrative staff supporting patient care.
- Continuously research and incorporate industry best practices, new regulations, and emerging healthcare trends into training materials.
- Conduct clinical orientation and onboarding for new hires, ensuring a strong foundation in patient care expectations, compliance, and organizational culture.
- Deliver both required and optional professional development training to clinical and non-clinical staff, using interactive teaching methods.
- Encourage staff engagement in training initiatives by making learning accessible, relevant, and applicable to daily work.
- Develop and facilitate training on critical healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, CMS, and Joint Commission standards.
- Implement and oversee clinical competency evaluations to verify that staff meet required skills and knowledge standards.
- Maintain training records and assist in preparing documentation for regulatory audits and accreditation reviews.
- Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to create interactive online learning modules.
- Provide education on electronic medical records (EMRs), patient monitoring systems, and other clinical technologies to ensure staff proficiency.
- Partner with department leaders to identify knowledge gaps and develop targeted training solutions.
- Work with leadership to develop training that aligns with quality improvement efforts and enhances patient outcomes.
- Work directly with nursing, behavioral health, crisis response, and other teams to create specialized education programs tailored to their unique needs.
- Regularly solicit input from staff and leadership to refine training programs for maximum impact.
- Serve as a clinical mentor for nurses and direct care staff, fostering a learning-centered environment.
- Build strong relationships across departments to ensure seamless training integration and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in conferences, workshops, and external training events to bring best practices back to the organization.
What You Bring:
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
Minimum Work Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
- At least 1 year in a teaching or educational role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Required Skills:
- Effective oral and written communication skills & organizational skills.
- Must demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, leadership skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong presentation and facilitation abilities.
- Proficiency with computer systems and the ability to learn new systems.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, Education, Licenses, Certifications and Requirements:
- Masters in Nursing or Education preferred.
- Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) preferred or willingness to obtain certification within one year.
- Experience in a government environment
What You’ll Get:
- This is a full-time, on-site position. The pay range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000 annually, based on experience.
