Internship Program | NCTA-The Internet & Television Association
The NCTA Summer Internship Program is a 9-week opportunity that provides exposure into advocacy on behalf of the internet and television industry. Throughout the program, you will gain new skills, expand your professional network, and develop a deeper understanding of how we serve our members. This role is designed to challenge you and be influential to a future career. Opportunities are available in several departments of the organization that serve varying functions.
Program Features
- Assigned peer mentor to help introduce you to NCTA’s culture and values.
- Participate in professional development, events/seminars and networking events.
- Learn about and visit Capitol Hill
- Collaborate with seasoned professionals.
- Lunch with the CEO.
- Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions.
Compensation
- Pay: Undergraduate - $20.00 per hour Graduate-$25.00 per hour
- Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
Timeline of Program
- June 2nd – August 8th
What You Bring To NCTA
- Be an undergraduate entering your sophomore, junior or senior year or graduate student.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be curious, creative and have strong critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with the the following platforms: Airtable, Zoom, Box.
- Able to commit at minimum of 3 working days per week.
Government Relations:
The Government Relations team is responsible for the advocacy efforts on behalf of the cable industry on Capitol Hill and beyond.
State Government Relations Intern
Responsibilities and Projects:
- Summarizes state reports and filings as needed.
- Reports on local news stories and regulatory and legislative developments relevant to the broadband industry.
- Audits and updates databases relevant to state broadband programs and state legislation.
- Attends and reports on webinars and events relevant to the industry.
- Maintains records of NCTA SGR and External Affairs meetings with members and other stakeholders.
- Responds to research requests as needed.
Federal Government Relations Intern
Responsibilities and Projects:
- Conducts research on issues important to our member companies.
- Helps track and summarizes relevant congressional legislation .
- Maintains congressional hearing and event calendar.
- Provides coverage of House and Senate hearings, including drafting of summary documents
- Organizes media coverage related to current policy issues.
- Attends industry related events.
Government Relations Intern Requirements
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Good understanding of the legislative process
- Strong research skills.
