The North Central Texas Council of Governments is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments, and was established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development. NCTCOG’s purpose is to strengthen both the individual and collective power of local governments and to help them recognize regional opportunities, eliminate unnecessary duplication, and make joint decisions. NCTCOG is located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
The Emergency Preparedness Department is seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide administrative and clerical support to the Emergency Preparedness department and the Director. This includes by providing customer service to the department stakeholders, public and staff; scheduling working group and committee meetings, coordinating travel arrangements and entering travel expenditure reports; implementing records management services; and tracking and maintaining office supply inventory. This position will work under the general direction of the Emergency Preparedness Director in the Emergency Preparedness Department.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Providing customer service in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner to partners and stakeholders, including elected officials and staff of member governments.
- Preparing memos, reports, travel expenditure reports, and purchase requisitions.
- Mailing and tracking annual Emergency Preparedness local and program dues.
- Assisting in Emergency Preparedness Working Groups and Committee scheduling, meeting logistics, and taking meeting notes.
Required Skills

- Strong listening skills with the ability to take official meeting notes for public meetings.
- Ability to be flexible and react positively to changing directions and evolution of projects.
- Detail oriented and highly organized.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe PDF.
Required Experience
- Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency and 1-3 years of work related experience.
