The North Central Texas Council of Governments Environment & Development Department is seeking a mid-level planner. This position will support the department’s floodplain management programs, including:
- Trinity River COMMON VISION
- Corridor Development Certificate Program
- Cooperating Technical Partners Program with FEMA
- Upper Trinity River Transportation and Stormwater Infrastructure (TSI) study
These programs utilize innovative strategies to mitigate current and future flood risks. They encourage voluntary measures that exceed the requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to complete assigned tasks that may include, but are not limited to:
- Utilizing existing knowledge of floodplain management gained through professional experience and/or certification in floodplain management
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders, partner communities, and federal agencies
- Navigating complex federal reporting portals
- Preparing for and leading committee or stakeholder meetings, including recruiting speakers, developing agendas, designing presentations, taking notes, and drafting meeting summaries
- Researching local government policies and plans related to floodplain management, development, and infrastructure
- Implementing an existing stakeholder engagement plan
- Tracking relevant legislation
- Developing annual work programs
- Updating simple web pages
- Monitoring budgets
- Managing grants

Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- More than one year up to and including three years of related work experience in floodplain management and/or local government operations

Starting Salary Range
Minimum of $54,009.00 - $72,912.15 annually
